Holiday Gift Guide

Hyggelic Holidays!

Welcome to our Huckleberry Holiday Guide inspired this year by the Danish concept of Hygge.

Hygge is a way of life that embraces of Peace, Harmony, Nature, Happiness, Comfort and Joy.

Hygge (pronounced Hoo-ga) loosely translates to a sense of comfort, togetherness, and well-being. It is felt when you are cuddled up on the sofa with the kids, on a nature walk with a friend, or sharing comfort food with your family.

It's sitting by a crackling fire, watching snowflakes flakes fall out the window, while sipping a warm cup of cider. It's about gratitude and savouring the simple pleasures in life.

Each week this season, I am going to share a little bit about these Hygge concepts, and how you can easily add these elements to your home, daily life, and quality time with the kids.

PEACE

Peace invites us to find calm and relaxing activities that promote 'being present' in the moment.
~
Making sure to turn off the devices, and taking some quiet time each day.
~
Peace can also be a Truce.. No drama! A time for letting go of grudges, or saving the political talk for another day.

Calmness

Give yourself permission to take some extra time to decompress and 'be still'. Snuggle up under warm blanket with a holiday classic like Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree - or a new favorite collection of Charlie Harpers books and stickers. Plus, I'll never forget my Great Grandma reading 'Twas the Night before Christmas to us every year, so I added it here for fun.

Togetherness

Break out the board games! Start a tradition of game night with the kids, you can even get a competitive tournament going. Creating togetherness with family game night is fun, but it's also the stuff that they will remember forever, rather than any youtube video they've watched.

Check out WS Game Company for some great vintage classics.

Do-It-Yourself

Using your hands to create things, like crafting or baking is a very hyggelic activity that you can do together with the kids.. For this, I recommend checking out our Seedling collection with lot's of DIY crafts for the kiddos.
